The beginning of every Year is the beginning of a new chapter in the life of every human being. It signifies a new beginning, and an opportunity to start all over again. The beginning of the year gives every serious minded person an opportunity to reflect of the failures, setbacks, successes and the positives of the previous year. It also leaves us with a blank book that is waiting to be written on. Before the close of the previous year, we made commitments and resolutions, as we venture into the New Year, We set for ourselves goals for the New Year, which we intend to pursue. We braced up for the foggy journey of life knowing fully well that we have been given another opportunity to change the direction in which our life is headed either positively or negatively. However, all the commitments we make are mostly borne out of the acknowledgement that we have failed to accomplish the goals we had set for ourselves in the outgoing year, or that we have a new feat to attempt this year. Just as we were excited about starting a new chapter of our lives in the New Year, we started the outgone years with such excited, we also made different commitment, resolution and a robust to-do list, which most of us do not eventually achieve.

The problem most time is that we lost track of our goals and commitment during the course of our journeys as a result of the situation, we sometimes pay lip-service to our commitment. At the end of the year, when we go through our score card we regrettably realize that failure is the only name we can use to describe our performance. To avoid similar fate at the end of this year, I have carefully listed some attitude to avoid to ensure that you don’t end up a wailer at the end of the 2017.

  1. Avoid Procrastination: Abraham Lincoln archaic but relevant saying; “you cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today” reminds us of the fact that Procrastination is a problem, and an obvious enemy of progress. Procrastination is the thief of time, which we need to curb. Most People understand what this term, procrastination is all about, they advise their friends and family against this clog, but most people don’t know that they are guilty of it. Procrastination inculcates laziness in any person that gives it a chance. It sucks the passion a person would have had get things done. It steals our resolve to achieve our goals. This year you must endeavor do away with this enemy. You do not have to postpone what you can do now till tomorrow.

  1. Negative Thinking: The mind is a critical aspect of the soul of every human being. It is important because all the battles of life are won in our mind. However, when we give room for negative thought in our mind, especially as regards what the future holds for us, we have invariably created a virus that would forever mitigate against our will to succeed. A negative thinker have pessimist mindset, their will is too fragile to inspire them to succeed. Negative For you to go far in your pursue of your goal, positive thinking must replace negative thinking. No man can go far with a crippled or corrupted mind. Avoid worry, always see the positives in every failures that we encounter.

  1. Wishful Thinking. Wishes as replace prayer in the lives of many. People wish things can get better. They wish they had a job, they wish the government is concerned about their wellbeing, they wish and wait endlessly for reality to favor them. If you are among those who wish things would just happen as you wish it in your heart, it is high time you know reality for what it truly is. Wishes don’t come into manifestation, you must pray fervently or work fervently to get what you want out of life. It is time to work to get result, rather than wait for things to come into manifestation out of nothing. As you begin this year, ensure you resolve not be stranded on the island of wishful thinking, but to prayer and work to get all that you want from life.

  1. Avoid Distraction: Winston S. Churchill has something to say concerning distractions. “You will never get to your destination if you stop to throw stone at every dogs that bark”. Distractions are those things that steals our attentions from our goals. it disrupts the urge in us to pursue the goals we have listed for ourselves. Distraction is an inevitable but avoidable part of the journey of life. As you journey into the year, your gaze must be fixed on your goals. Don’t let the flimsy things around you to derail you from the victory you are vying for.

  1. Don’t Quit: Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players ever, has something to say in this regard, “If you quit once it become a habit. Never quit”. The reason why people keep setting the same goals over and over again is because during the course of their journey, they kept quitting. It is high time we made up our mind not to give in to the pressure of quitting. Let us resolve in our mind not to quit as we go on our quest for fulfilment.

Happy New Year to you all, I pray you have a fulfilling 2017.
